Guillotine Pop-Up Store Launch

I've once again teamed up with Guillotine, by Lisa Jaffe, to help design their first pop-up store. The opening was a great success!
Fake Sartorialist Original Prints launched at the store, the next post will detail the launch of the online store>>>
There were a few different elements to the store:
1: Structure - I carried out basic conceptualisation for the materiality of the structure that creates the changing room and display areas within. Construction and design by Brendan Copestake and I. Inspiration by Lisa Jaffe, Sakura Butler and Thireshen Govender.
2: Window installation - by Tegan Bristow with needle and thread simulating a summer storm, and and led array programmed to simulate falling drops of water. All while a Guillotine piece rotates behind the rain.
3. Graphics: Me :)
4. Fake Sartorialist Original Prints capsule: Designed by Fake Sart of course.

Off the old block

Guillotine (Facebook page) Spring shirt for men and women.

I helped Lisa earlier this year with creating a short video for her Guillotine S/S 2010 show and making some hand outs for the show too. So I managed to convince her to repurpose one of her designs for men (there is so little stuff for us out there for us). Suffice it to say that I love it, so we did a little shoot and put this together (yes it's me as the lopped off head).

Fashion Comic: Guillotine S/S 2010 Part 1 S.A. Fashion Week

The response to the blog in the last few days has been phenomenal. Thanks for all the comments (friendly and unfriendly, but mostly the friendly ones). I am taking all suggestions into consideration and will be putting them into the blog when I can [animated fashion comics coming in the near future].

Also I just picked up on a really interesting acticle by Threadbare: What is this "Fake" in The Fake Sartorialist? a snipet:
"Schuman actually provides a comment on The Fake Sartorialist post (March 31, 2010) that ominously intones, "Intellectual property beware. Intellectual freedom beware. En garde." I think the en garde is pretty funny - even charming in another context - but I'm not really sure if he's threatening Cachucho or being playful here." (Threadbare article)

I'm not sure wether this comment is by Scott or not (its unlikely, but no one can tell from anonymous comments). It is a rather charming comment, as long as it is playful and not threatening....
Since the comment itself is utterly baseless*  I'm assuming its not of the threatening kind?
* (see previous posts on what The Fake Sartorialist is really about, and the above mentioned article)

And now for some entertainment!

Guillotine S/S 2010 S.A. Fashion Week

I had the privileged to work with Lisa Jaffe of Guillotine to create an intro video for her Spring/Summer 2010 show entitled 'The Sweetness of Terror'. The show was shown on the first day of South African Fashion Week (held at the Turbine Hall in Johannesburg), and got a great response (see image gallery here). Congratulations to Lisa for creating a killer show.

I also designed a pamphlet that was given out to the audience for the show. At last something I've made has gotten into the hands of Dion Chang (see image below)
